About Me

Welcome to Rocket OT! My name is Simone, I am an occupational therapist based in Sydney, Australia. I love working with children and adults from all walks of life, however my passion is working with children with autism and their families.

I graduated Exercise and Sport Science in 2009, and spent a year working in early intervention with young children with ASD where I found my passion… occupational therapy! I then completed my Master of Occupational Therapy at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia  (my beautiful  hometown!). Since then I have worked in early intervention, education, early childhood and community settings.

I created this blog to share my thoughts and ideas on all things related to pediatric occupational therapy! I am so passionate and determined to keep the profession respected and valued through use of evidence based therapies and strength based practice. I am a big believer in valuing individuals and their families as experts by experience, and aim to work side by side with them, listening and respecting them every step of the way.

I have lots of ideas and thoughts, and love learning, reflecting and growing everyday. I aim to be the best I can be to help others be their best selves too!

A quick thank you to all who made this blog possible:

  • The families and children I have worked with who inspire me ever single day with their strength, dedication, love and belief. Thank you for sharing your journeys with me.
  • All the educators and therapists I have worked with who have supported me, shared their knowledge and experience with me, and made me always endeavor to better myself.
  • Alex, for being a constant supporter, motivator and best friend. Without you, this blog would not exist.
  • Lisi, Gavin, Keato, John, KP and Lee for their amazing photography skills (and being so kind as to share them with me).
